Lightning Storm On Thursday

I took this standing at my back door on Thursday.  The lightning was crazy, and the storm took out a bunch of trees in our neighborhood, the park, and all across Richmond.

Awesome

From TalkingPointsMemo.com

"The House was debating a bill last night that would provide up to $7.4 billion in health care aid to rescue and recovery workers who have faced health problems since their work in the wake of the September 11 attacks. The bill ultimately failed to get the needed two-thirds majority, 255-159, and Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-NY) was not happy about it. Not one bit."

Wow... South Park Responds to Comedy Central

A Statement from Matt and Trey

A Statement from Matt and Trey

In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it.

Kyle Singler reportedly to return to Duke for senior year

Sporting News staff reports
Monday, Apr. 19, 2010 - 8:04 p.m. ET
Duke forward Kyle Singler will return for his senior year, according to FoxSports.com. The report says Singler will make an official announcement on his NBA draft fate by Tuesday night.
Singler averaged 17.7 points and 7 rebounds per game as a junior and was named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player for the Blue Devils. He was projected as a first-round pick by multiple mock draft websites.
With Singler back on board, Duke is SN's early No. 1 team for the 2010-11 season.

If John Wall had actually come to Duke...

...We would have at least made sure his Jersey didn't have spelling mistakes.
I guess that is just what happens when you go to Kentcuky.

Seriously??

The Blue Devils pulled out a big victory over arch rival (nemesis?) Tarheels last night.  It was a big victory because it was against UNC, not because UNC is any good this year.  I was really nervous during the game, and felt like there was a lot riding on it.  I tend to take it pretty seriously, but this is a bit over the top.

Here is a quote from Roy Williams comparing the current UNC basketball season to the Haiti tragedy:
"Massage therapist told me, she said, 'You know, coach, what happened in Haiti is a catastrophe. What you're having is a disappointment.' I told her that depends on what chair she was sitting in. Because it does feel like a catastrophe to me, because it is my life."
So... ACC record of 2-7 = 230,000 lives lost in the Haiti Tragedy
230,000

(A "fan" wanted to take a pic with the mascot after the Pheiffer game, so he covered up her awful jersey with his cape for the picture.  Well played.  Even the guys wearing Pheiffer shirts in the background think this is funny.  I do love the rivalry, and college basketball, but let's not compare it large scale loss of life in any capacity.  Roy, show a little respect and class.)

"This Is Your Brain on Duke Basketball"

Article via GoDuke

"In a novel study that used historical tape of a thrilling overtime basketball game between Duke and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, brain researchers at Duke have found that fans remember the good things their team did much better than the bad."

Crap...

So, my 30D is sad today.  Whenever I hit the shutter button, it fires and then fires three more times before giving me a Error 99 message.  I really don't want to replace this camera.  I'll probably send it in to Canon for repair, but I have no idea about the cost. Sad.

Update!
I sent the camera in to Canon for repair.  The rep I spoke with on the phone was very nice, but I doubt it is still under warranty.  Hopefully, I'll have a repair estimate in a few days.
